Less than one day after Homophobe Huckabee was put on the board for the Country Music Association (CMA), he was kicked off.
Ex-Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee had to resign from his seat on the CMA Foundation’s board of directors once country music fans spoke up en masse in resistance.
Because of his extended history of homophobia and hatred, country fans were strongly opposed to Huckabee’s position on the board.
The CMA Foundation is the charitable part of the CMA, devoted to paying for music education across America.
Huckabee hates LGBT Americans, and that hatred is what caused the backlash to the bigot’s appointment. He has called for people with AIDS to be quarantined and lied that homosexuality is “an aberrant, unnatural, and sinful lifestyle.”
He is allied with the hate group World Congress of Families, who promote homophobia and anti-gay laws all around the world.
He even insanely said same-sex marriage would lead to the end of civilization.
The Nashville Tennessean wrote, “Huckabee’s inclusion on the board has sparked hundreds of comments from outraged fans on social media, many of which are threatening to boycott the CMA, CMA Music Festival and in some cases country music as a whole.”
Industry insiders are also against Huckabee.
Jason Owen, who is co-president of Monument Records was adamantly against Huckabee in his email to the organization’s leaders. Owen and his husband have a young son together and are currently expecting twins. He stated that Mike Huckabee has “made it clear my family is not welcome in his America.”
Owen added, “Huckabee speaks of the sort of things that would suggest my family is morally beneath his and uses language that has a profoundly negative impact upon young people all across this country. Not to mention how harmful and damaging his deep involvement with the NRA is. What a shameful choice.”
Whitney Pastorek, manager of Kristian Bush from the band Sugarland, emailed several executives as well, saying, “What a terrible disappointment to see (the CMA Foundation’s) mission clouded by the decision to align with someone who so frequently engages in the language of racism, sexism, and bigotry.”
Country music fans have made it very clear that they don’t accept Huckabee’s toxic hate and discrimination. They and many key members of the country music community stood up for equality, and Homophobe Huckabee was forced to leave.
His disgusting bigotry is no longer acceptable to an increasing number of Americans.
