On Tuesday the Senate held public hearings with the leaders of a number of major U.S. intelligence agencies. These agency leaders regularly testify in front of Congress about various issues, but in the Trump era, these hearings have taken on a new focus and importance. Most of these agency leaders appeared to be competent and believable – with the predictable exception of Trump’s chosen CIA Director, Mike Pompeo.
Senators asked all the agency leaders today if Trump had shown any legitimate interest in getting to the bottom of the Russian election hacking. Everybody from the FBI Director on down admitted that Trump had never so much as asked them to investigate it. This is damning, as it proves that Trump doesn’t want the truth to be revealed about Russian election interference. It’s not hard to figure out why: he knows that he’s only in office because of Russia’s rigging on his behalf.
The trouble here is that there was one exception. CIA Director Mike Pompeo was the only person to testify that Trump is completely on board with solving the Russian election hacking. So we are left with a choice between believing the leaders of all the other agencies, or the lonely guy who always says or does something suspicious when it comes to Traitor Trump and Russia. Pompeo keeps finding ways to make himself appear even guiltier. To be clear, looking guilty is different from being guilty. There is no evidence so far that Pompeo was in on the Trump-Russia election rigging conspiracy. But every single time he opens his mouth, he basically is yelling, “Look at me, I’m a suspect.”
Even after the U.S. intel community realized that National Security Adviser Michael Flynn being paid by foreign governments, Pompeo kept giving classified intel briefings in front of Flynn. Last fall, Pompeo inexplicably began lying that Russian meddling didn’t impact the result of the election. Now Pompeo is doing it again. This guy can’t be trusted.
