Amazingly, Bill O’Reilly is trying to blame firing from Fox News on supposedly “unfounded claims,” just several hours subsequent to the the announcement of his departure from the network.
“It is tremendously disheartening that he part ways due to completely unfounded claims. But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today.”
O’Reilly, who has been the host of “The O’Reilly Factor” since 2001, gave praise to his former company and all the loyal viewers for their continued support.
“I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers.”
“After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel,” the network wrote in a statement.
The network’s decision comes after the release of a report by The New York Times that alleged that O’Reilly had paid $13 million in sexual harassment settlements over the years to various women.
