According to The Boston Globe, Majority Leader of he Senate Mitch McConnell has obviously been ignoring Sen. Elizabeth Warren since he moved to cut her off when she was speaking on the Senate floor in February.
If you recall, McConnell cut Warren off in February as she attempted to read a letter from Coretta Scott King during her speech on the Senate floor. She was trying to use the letter to explain her opposition to the nomination of Jeff Session’s for US Attorney General. Senator McConnell then activated a rarely used rule that prevents senators “by any form of words impute to another Senator or to other Senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a Senator.”
Although Jeff Sessions was finally confirmed, the relationship between Warren and McConnell still remains icy, even though a full 2 months has passed since the incident.
“I’ve spoken to him, but he has not spoken to me. I say hello to Mitch every chance I get, and he turns his head.”
After the incident in February, McConnell indicated that Warren was warned that she would be cut off in her speech.
“Sen. Warren was giving a lengthy speech. She had appeared to violate the rule. She was warned. She was given an explanation,” McConnell said. “Nevertheless, she persisted.”
The progressives took that latter phrase, “Nevertheless, she persisted”, and used it as a political rallying cry.
Hopefully they will not forget when the Senate is up for grabs in 2018, and the Trump agenda can be brought to a standstill.
