Whoa! For once in our history, it looks like the Trump inauguration will be upstaged by…
over 200,000 women!
The Women’s March on Washington will converge on D.C. on January 21st, dwarfing the inauguration festivities.
D.C, Councilman, Charles Allen, said that there have been at least 1200 bus permits requested for parking at the lot by the RFK Stadium.
Compare that to the mere 200 permits for the inauguration
In a statement, the organizers of the march said, “We join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore.”
“The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world that women’t rights are human rights.”
There have always been some sort of organized protests at presidential inaugurations. However, this year there are 4 times the average permits for protests according to the National Park Service. Almost 30 permits for various protest groups have been issued this year.
As a boost, the Natural Resources Defense Council announced that it will partner with organizers of The Women’s March on Washington because those who bear the brunt of consequences of climate change and industrial pollution are low-income communities, women, and people of color.
