Democratic Representative Gerry Connolly (Va.) on Friday confirmed that President Trump lives within a “delusional world fed by Fox News,” a few hours after the ignorant and amoral president threatened to close down the entire Mexico border (can he even do that?) if Democrats will not agree to provide money for his racist southern border wall.
“I think the president lives in this delusional world fed by Fox News and a couple of right-wing talking heads and does not connect actions with consequences,” said Connolly, who is a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, during an appearance for CNN.
“If you close the border you are going to re-invite huge swings in the stock market, you are going to jeopardize the economic progress we’ve made, and you’re frankly going to do a lot of damage to your own prospects for 2020 by inviting a recession,” Connolly continued.
Earlier Friday, Trump warned that he’d “close the Southern Border entirely” should Democrats refuse to provide funding to “finish” building a wall along the Mexican border. (Construction has not begun on the wall, but Trump has repeatedly lied to his supporters that it has.)
“We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give us the money to finish the Wall & also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with,” rambled the president in a terrible tweet.
The federal government went into a partial government shutdown in Saturday over Trump’s insane demand for $5 billion for his primitive and xenophobic border wall.
House Republicans passed a bill last week providing an excessive $5.7 billion in both border security and wall funding. But that bill will be dead on arrival when it gets to the Senate.
Democrats will control the House starting Jan. 3 and plan to quickly pass legislation in order to reopen the government and get it back to working for the American people.
But Trump vows to continue holding 800,000 federal employees hostage to get money for his devilish racist plot. The shutdown may continue for quite a while thanks to the inexperienced president.
