Outgoing Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) didn’t hold back when she gave a scathing assessment of the spineless Republican Party and tyrannical President Trump, saying that GOP senators privately say Donald Trump is “nuts.”
Claire McCaskill in November lost a reelection bid to the Republican Josh Hawley and she will be leaving Washington in under two weeks.
During an exit interview for CNN, she said that when she talks privately with Republican senators they always tell her how they actually feel about Trump.
“Now they’ll tell you, if it’s just the two of you, ‘The guy is nuts, he doesn’t have a grasp of the issues, he’s making rash decisions, he’s not listening to people who know the subject matter,’ ” she explained to CNN. “But in public if they go after him … they know they get a primary [challenger], and they know that’s tough.”
While Claire McCaskill wouldn’t name any specific senators, she mentioned Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), lamenting, “I don’t know what happened with Lindsey.”
Lindsey Graham has aligned himself with President Trump on several issues, including putting attempted rapist Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, but has recently criticized the president for his handling of major foreign diplomacy decisions, like Trump’s move to pull American troops from Syria.
However, Claire McCaskill acknowledged that the Republican Party has largely followed Trump’s lead.
“This is Donald Trump’s Republican Party,” Senator McCaskill declared. “Make no mistake about it.”
Josh Hawley beat McCaskill in Missouri easily after being supported and endorsed by Tyrant Trump. Hawley was formerly the state’s attorney general and he filed a lawsuit with several other state attorneys general trying to overturn ObamaCare, indicating a lack of concern for the well-being of Americans.
McCaskill, said Trump does so many strange things, that nobody thinks about how crazy the actions are anymore.
“I mean, Kanye West was in the Oval Office M-F—ing on live TV,” Senator McCaskill said. “I mean, think about that. That is crazy weird. Can you imagine would have happened if that happened during the Obama years? … The lid would have blown off this place.”
Claire McCaskill also talked about Senate Majority Leader and amoral turtle Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), saying that he is “a very, very political leader.”
“This isn’t somebody who is sitting around at night figuring out how he can move the needle on really important policy issues,” she explained. “This is someone who is figuring out how he can win elections, beat Dems like me make sure that Republicans like Cory Gardner (Colo.) and Thom Tilllis (N.C.) can hold onto their jobs a few years from now.”
