The main American ally in Syria on Thursday disagreed with President Trump’s lie that ISIS has been beaten in Syria and criticized his choice to withdraw the U.S. troops.
Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces said that ISIS is still around, adding that pulling American troops out of Syria will destabilize the region.
“The war against terrorism has not ended and (the Islamic State group) has not been defeated,” said the SDF, the Associated Press reported.
“The decision to pull out under these circumstances will lead to a state of instability and create a political and military void in the region and leave its people between the claws of enemy forces,” the SDF added.
Trump while declaring on Wednesday that America would withdraw all its troops from Syria lied that ISIS has been destroyed in Syria.
“We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency,” Trump lied in a tweet.
The lying White House also said that America “has defeated the territorial caliphate.”
Donald Trump then doubled down on his lies in a video message on Wednesday evening, saying that America has “won against ISIS.”
“We’ve beaten them and we’ve beaten them badly. We’ve taken back the land and now it’s time for our troops to come back home,” he lied.
