Don Lemon, anchor from CNN, said “the biggest terror threat in this country is white men,” and added that “there is no travel ban on them,” prompting rebuke on social media from conservatives.
“I keep trying to point out to people and not to demonize any one group or any one ethnicity,” said Lemon to Chris Cuomo, fellow CNN anchor, during a handoff late Monday of their respective programs. “But we keep thinking that the biggest terror threat is something else, someone people who are marching, you know, towards the border, like it’s imminent.”
He added, “And the last time they did this, a couple hundred people came and they — you know, most of them did get into the country, most of them tired — you know, got tuckered out before they made it to the border.”
“So, we have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them,” concluded Lemon. “There is no travel ban on them. There is no ban on — you know, they had the Muslim ban. There is no white guy ban.”
The ban Lemon was referring to prevented travel to the United States by nationals coming from five countries with Muslim majorities countries that Trump administration introduced early in 2017. In June, the Supreme Court upheld this ban on a vote of 5 to 4.
Over social media, conservatives hypocritically slammed Don Lemon for his remarks. They felt offended because after Republicans called Muslims terrorists and Mexicans criminals for years, a man had the bravery to expose the simple truth of America’s majority causing the majority of our problems.
