Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said on Sunday that it is in Donald Trump‘s best interest to allow special counsel Mueller to complete his investigation of Russian interference during the 2016 election.
Marco Rubio, on “Fox News Sunday,” sided with a number of his GOP colleagues in defending the investigation in the face of Trump’s insane call last week for Jeff Sessions, the Attorney General, to stop the Mueller investigation.
Mr. Rubio said that the “best thing that can happen” to Trump and the nation is for the probe to “run the course and for all the truth to come out.”
Asked whether he believes Trump ought to sit for an interview for the special counsel, Marco Rubio said that he wouldn’t “pre-judge” if Trump declined an interview (even if it’s obviously because Trump know he’s guilty).
“There are plenty of people who are innocent whose lawyers would tell them not do sit down and answer questions from a prosecutor because there’s all sorts of other problems involved in that,” Rubio claimed.
Trump has said he’d like to speak with Mueller, but his attorneys have cautioned against it. The two sides are in negotiations about a potential interview, with Mueller reportedly offering to limit his questioning.
Trump tweeted on last Wednesday that Jeff Sessions “should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further.”
The deranged and frightening totalitarian tweet drew pushback from many Republicans, and most Democrats. However, a few Republicans, like the traitor Vice President Pence, have urged Mueller to finish his investigation promptly, so that criminals can go free.
New York Times reported that Robert Mueller is looking at Trump’s use (abuse) of Twitter in an investigation into the president’s relentless obstruction of justice.
