Robert Mueller, Special Counsel, has too many irons in the fire involving the Trump-Russia controversy to count: Paul Manafort, Michael Cohen, Roger Stone, Erik Prince, among many others. So when is Mueller going to drop the next bombs, and on whom are they going to land? Mark Warner, Vice Chairman of the Senate Intel Committee is now giving a big hint, which has sent President Donald Trump spiraling.
The Senate Intel Committee, the single congressional probe into the Trump-Russia controversy that’s working entirely in a bipartisan manner, is widely considered the one that is cooperating with Mueller most closely. Mark Warner, Democratic Senator, told a crowd of people during a private fundraiser, “If you get me one more glass of wine, I’ll tell you stuff only Bob Mueller and I know. If you think you’ve seen wild stuff so far, buckle up. It’s going to be a wild couple of months.”
Two things must be considered here. First of all, Warner wouldn’t make a claim like this, even for a joke, unless it’s correct. So it’s Mueller Time. Second of all, by rule, everything Warner knows is also known by Richard Burr, the Republican Chairman of the Senate Intel Committee. Both are briefed on classified evidence which the rest of the committee can’t see. Warner and Burr have both shown bipartisan solidarity regarding the Trump-Russia investigation from the start. So clearly Warner meant that just he, Burr, and Robert Mueller’s team knew about the information.
Nonetheless, Trump went crazy about it anyway, tweeting this asinine crap full of lying accusations: “Why is Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), perhaps in a near drunken state, claiming he has information that only he and Bob Mueller, the leader of the 13 Angry Democrats on a Witch Hunt, knows? Isn’t this highly illegal. Is it being investigated?” That means that Trump was terrified by the revelation that now, it’s Mueller Time.
