Trump Displays Incredibly Low-Class Move On the World Stage

President Donald Trump tossed two Starbursts to Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, during his heated meeting with G-7 leaders recently, the Eurasia Group President Ian Bremmer reported on Wednesday.

While he was appearing for CBS News, Bremmer described the low quality of Trump and Merkel’s relationship during heightened conflict G-7 members and the president over his heavy steel and aluminum tariffs along with the suggestion that Russia should be reinstated.

Bremmer describes a bizarre event toward the summit’s end, when Merkel and the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau teamed up with some of other G-7 allies “to press Trump directly to sign the [group] communique that talked about the commitment to a rules-based international order.”

“Trump was sitting there with his arms crossed, clearly not liking the fact that they were ganging up on him,” Ian Bremmer told CBS. “He eventually agreed and said OK, he’ll sign it. And at that point, he stood up, put his hand in his pocket, his suit jacket pocket, and he took two Starburst candies out, threw them on the table and said to Merkel, ‘Here, Angela. Don’t say I never give you anything.’ ”
“The relationship is about as dysfunctional as we’ve seen between America and its major allies since the trans-Atlantic relationship really started after World War II,” explained Bremmer.

Following the G-7 summit, Trump immaturely refused to sign the joint statement that was signed by all of the other G-7 members, criticizing Justin Trudeau and even threatening to start more tariffs against Canada. Angela Merkel also schooled Trump on Tuesday because he inaccurately criticized her nation’s humane immigration system, lying that Germany had rising crime rates.
