Trump Administration Just Brought on Europe’s Wrath

The European Union (EU) will place additional taxes on U.S. imports beginning in July in retaliation against Trump’s tariffs against EU steel and aluminum, Reuters reports.

EU members support a plan which would set 25% duties on nearly $3.3 billion in U.S. goods.

“The Commission expects to conclude the relevant procedure in coordination with member states before the end of June so that the new duties start applying in July,” said Commissioner Maros Sefcovic on Wednesday during a press conference.

Donald Trump announced recently that he would put a 25% tariff against imported steel and a 10% tariff against imported aluminum from key allies, such as the EU, Canada and Mexico.

Idiot Trump first declared the tariffs in March, however, he provided some nations with temporary exemptions.

Reuters reports that EU exports now targeted by Trump’s terrible tariffs are worth over $7.5 billion.

The EU plan will impose duties between 10% and 50% on $4.2 billion in U.S. goods starting March 2021, or even sooner if the impartial World Trade Organization (WTO) decides that Trump’s tariffs are against international law, Reuters reported. The European Union challenged the terrible tariffs on Friday at the WTO.

The United States products the EU will put tariffs on include orange juice, jeans, bourbon, motorcycles and specific steel products, Reuters reported.

The European Union joins Canada and Mexico by responding to the unwarranted Trump tariffs with their own tariffs on U.S. goods.

Canada is putting import duties on $12.9 billion in U.S. goods while Mexico is doing the same for many different U.S. products.

A lot of the products being targeted come from the states where the Republicans are campaigning for reelection during the midterm elections.
