Donald Trump’s Latest Pardon Has an Underlying Story

On Thursday, May 31, President Donald J. Trump gave a statement that said he was granting a total pardon to Dinesh D’Souza, an awful man, and also was thinking about pardoning Martha Stewart and decreasing the sentence of ex-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. All this indicates that Trump has potential obstruction charges against him coming.

As a Constitutional expert, Laurence Tribe, tweeted via his @tribelaw account: “Trump’s Dinesh D’Souza pardon today, on top of his pardons of Scooter Libby and Joe Arpaio, make sense only as an elephant-whistle to Michael Cohen & all who know damning things about Trump: protect me & I’ll have your back. Turn on me & your goose is cooked. More obstruction!”

D’Souza got convicted of campaign finance crimes for directing two associates to donate $10,000 each to help a senate campaign, and he reimbursed them. Donald Trump and his dishonest press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, lied that D’Souza is “a victim of selective prosecution,” a lie that was rebutted during the sentencing of Dinesh D’Souza by the judge giving the sentence.

Within a transcript of an interview with Trump, he also talked about Blagojevich, convicted of corruption in the federal court in Chicago, Illinois for a “pay to play” conspiracy for the Senate seat that was vacated by Barack Obama.

Laurence Tribe noted that the timing and the nature of people Trump is pardoning suggests that he is sending a strong signal to Michael Cohen and the others caught up in the Trump-Russia investigation- be strong, we will make everyhing good for you! Ex- prosecutor, Joyce Alene suggested that the timing and message Donald Trump was sending, via her @JoyceWhiteVance account: “Dinesh D’Souza was convicted of one of the crimes Michael Cohen is under investigation for, campaign finance fraud. Impossible to view this as anything other than a “stay strong “message from Trump to Cohen, especially given the timing.”

D’Souza is a very nasty man who has tweeted horrible things (including immediately the murder of Trayvon Martin, and it was one about then-President Obama) which are comparable to Roseanne’s evil tweets. The bigger point here is that Trump is yelling at the top of his lungs that he will treat his cronies right if they have his back. Hopefully Tribe is correct, and we see more obstruction counts after this latest inappropriate conduct.
