Sarah Palin Responds to Sen. McCain’s “Gut-Punch” Comment

Sarah Palin said on Thursday that Senator John McCain admitting his regret of choosing her for a running mate during his failed presidential bid in 2008 is “like a perpetual gut-punch.”

The former Republican nominee for vice president claimed that McCain’s recent comments were “not what Sen. McCain has told me all these years, as he’s apologized to me repeatedly for the people who ran his campaign,” she said to the Daily Mail before she spoke at a PAC fundraiser that was pro-Trump.

In his anticipated autobiography, “The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations,” the aging senator laments about not choosing former Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) to be his running mate.

McCain still praises Palin for the work she did for his campaign.

“I attribute a lot of what we’re hearing and reading regarding McCain’s statements to his ghostwriter or ghostwriters,” Palin said to the Daily Mail, saying she’d need to speak to McCain herself.

McCain currently receives brain cancer treatment at his Arizona home, but he continues to be a strong voice in the Republican Party and in the Senate where he commonly criticizes Donald Trump’s administration.
