There was a fire the other day on the 50th floor of the Trump Tower in Manhattan. It was severe enough that a resident died, and six firefighters were injured. The NYFD Commissioner then made the stunning announcement to the media that residential floors of Trump Tower don’t have a sprinkler system. And Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen might have unwittingly let slip something else that’s wrong with the building.
During the fire, Michael Cohen texted his friend Dennis Shields, a man who lives in an apartment on the 42nd floor of the Trump Tower, and warned him to get out. The New York Times reported that Shields described his conversation the following way. “He said, ‘Are you in the building?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘You better get out ASAP.’ That’s how I knew to get out, otherwise I’d still be in there.” But wait a minute, something isn’t right here.
Cohen could have been overreacting when he urged his friend to leave. If the fire was bad enough that the fire department believed a building-wide evacuation was a necessity, it would have happened. Our question is this: how did Mr. Shields not know he was in a burning building until he was texted by Cohen? His description makes it seem like no fire alarm went off. It’s one thing for the Trump Tower to lack sprinklers, which is very dangerous, but technically legal because of the building’s age. This makes it seem like Trump Tower doesn’t even have fire alarms installed.
The media had reported that someone had been seriously injured by the fire when Donald Trump tweeted lies about how well his stupid building had been built. Was Trump aware that someone was injured when he posted that idiotic tweet? When did he find out about the injury? When exactly did he learn that the person had died? Did Trump, who is a pathological liar and a scumbag, lead these innocent residents to think that there is a sprinkler system in Trump Tower? And now, how come Dennis Shields didn’t know he was in a burning building until somebody on the outside told him?
